That winter, José Luis “Chile” Gómez brought him to the Liga de la Costa, where his fielding and hitting created a sensation. The following year, he became the starting second baseman for Unión Laguna in the Mexican League.

During winter seasons in the Liga de la Costa, he played for the Mayos de Navojoa, Yaquis de Ciudad Obregón, Tomateros de Culiacán, as well as clubs in the Veracruz Winter League and the Beto Ávila League.

His name appears repeatedly in the record books of the most important leagues, both in fielding and hitting categories.

In the National Association record book, it is noted as an active record that “Moi” set while playing for the Águilas de Mexicali in 1954, when he went 7-for-7 at the plate (two singles, one double, one triple, and three home runs).
